Illia Eckhard’s goal was to uncover the true essence of the basket. He created Gobi after conducting an in-depth study of skill and artisanship, which we believe are the most authentic expressions of people’s humanity and creativity. The beauty of the Gobi basket makes it a stellar example of Belgian dexterity and artisanship. Each one is made by skilled artisans using traditional weaving techniques. The ropes are made from recycled plastic bottles, with an outer layer of recycled acrylic. The result is a unique product every time, with slight differences in colour and shape.
To maintain the original look and feel of your Gobi baskets, we recommend not leaving them out in the rain, as they take a long time to dry out. If your baskets do get wet, it’s best to leave them to dry out fully in the open air, allowing all the moisture to evaporate. We have decided not to produce protective covers, as we believe it’s better to bring the baskets indoors when it rains.
